Importing legacy content to a database of a CMS like Joomla or Drupal is not a mean task. Its often time-consuming and a painstaking exercise.

Here we present to you a sneak peak into the export2web strategy for content migration.


Content Migration Steps

  1. Create an Information Architecture for the new website using the legacy content and old sitemap.

  2. The legacy content may be disaggregated, if is it will be required to organize the HTML content. In doing so we will also be mapping legacy content to the new site architecture.

  3. Determine consistency and structure of static HTML pages. It will also imperative to demarcate clear design and content boundaries in the HTML pages to ensure smooth import from legacy to the CMS Databases.

Drupal is often described by the Drupal community as a Content Management Framework as opposed to a CMS. Drupal’s power comes from its more abstracted approach to handling web content and functionality.


Joomla on the other hand is pitched as being a one-stop solution for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. It’s easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable.


Joomla and Drupal have many things in common. Both are market leaders amongst all the open-source CMS solutions available. Both these open-source CMS's are PHP-based, using MySQL database with GPL license (open source). The question as to which is better is best answered by analyzing which one suits the website requirements better.
